anniegurumi is a play on words between my name and the Japanese art of crocheted dolls: amigurumi.

Many years before the internet was popular, I learned crochet from the books I bought at my local book store.

I began making scarves, hats, mittens and even jumpers. I felt a so proud to make something with my two hands and began gifting them to my friends. Then by word of mouth, their friends asked me to make for them. Many of my friends (and of course my husband) encouraged me to open a shop so others could buy my dolls.

We had the unfortunate pains of fertility troubles. We tried for many years and finally found that a simple surgery to remove my uterine polyps was the key. We had a son and he is the source of all of my designs. He inspires me with so much hope and happiness. He also helps me with taking pictures, he's my in house photographer. ;)

I gathered enough courage to open an etsy shop and was so pleased with how many people appreciated my small business. I also had the pleasure of doing Handmade Hong Kong markets and was a vendor for 2017 Etsy Made Local.

I was featured in a popular Japanese magazine for the Handmade Section of Hong Kong. It is such an honour to be recognised by such a great community.

I am a stay at home mum, who found a love for amigurumi. Thank you so much for supporting my very tiny small business. You are appreciated. :)

You can find my digital patterns on my etsy shop and know that you're supporting a full time mum who has turned her passion into an at home business.
